I would usually introduce the key concepts via the use of Powerpoints, case studies, video clips etc.
I haven't really taught the entire chapter before, but I have used Wikipedia to show various ways in which countries are ranked - using criteria such as GDP, life expectancy, infant mortality, literacy, HDI etc. as a start to the chapter.
